As we know January is the time of resolutions and resolution failure. I know many of mine don't make it past March. So I haven't made any this year but I am taking steps to be a better parent to my sons which equates to me being around longer. Translation, I am taking an active roll in my health in regards to weight, energy, and yes I have jumped on the clean eating bandwagon. Now eating healthy with two growing boys can be a bit of a challenge and has caused me to have to get quite creative. With that said green smoothies are my new best friend and I have truly enjoyed getting reacquainted with my blender. We have made accidental apple sauce (when you add too many apples to your morning smoothie) that resulted in me being the "coolest mom EVER", yogurt/juice swirl pops (another accident), and apple chips all without sugar. This has been an exciting journey of trial and error that has thus far been wonderful, hopefully I can keep this change past March.
My current weight is wayyy more than I would like it to be at the current moment and since starting eating cleaner (still a work in progress) and incorporating at least one green smoothie to my meal plan I have lost 15 lbs to date. Understanding change takes time I know this is just the beginning of my journey to a new healthier me. I have also found that including my sons have not only made it easier to stick to, but we are bonding more than ever. As moms we are the glue that holds everything together and as such we often neglect ourselves for our families. We owe it to our loved ones and more importantly ourselves to be the best we can be health wise. If you are like myself time is never on your side, so in turn I have a few tricks to make life a bit more simple. The first is of course include my kids. I know this my seem like self sabotage but it isn't, when we get up to make the smoothies each kid gets a job and each day they rotate so that everyone gets a turn at everything. Secondly, meal prep, it makes the mornings go so smoothly. We like to pick out our recipes together and bag up our ingredients for each day of the week each Saturday. So in the mornings we just grab, add our liquid, and blend. The next is don't look at it as something you have to do (you have plenty of other obligations) look at it as a special treat for yourself.
Well loves I will keep you all posted on my progress and include some of our favorite recipes below. Enjoy!!!
